How Reading Became the Start of My Self-Care Journey
When I first began my self-care journey, books and meaningful quotes were my go-to source of motivation. Whenever I needed guidance, clarity, or even just a moment of inspiration, I turned to literature. I truly believe that reading blogs and books go hand in hand—because as you join me here and follow my journey, it’s similar to opening a book that offers tips, tools, and encouragement for becoming your best self.
Over the years, I’ve read countless books, but there is one that stands out as the first real shift for me: You Are A Goddess by Sophie Bashford. This book opened my eyes to femininity, confidence, and the balance of both feminine and masculine energy. It motivated me to pursue my goals with intention while staying grounded in who I am. After finishing it, I felt a genuine emotional transformation and a new sense of healing that I hadn’t experienced before.
As I continued reading different genres, I realized that I naturally gravitate toward self-improvement books, biographies, and memoirs. I’ve always been someone who likes to grow and evolve, and there’s something powerful about reading people’s real stories—their trials, breakthroughs, and the moments they chose to rise above it all. Hearing how others overcame their obstacles has always pushed me to move forward, even during my lowest moments.
But I also know that reading has drifted for many people over time. With technology and distractions everywhere, it can feel harder to pick up an actual book. That’s part of why I created this literature-focused blog—to share the books that shaped me, recommend the ones I truly love, and hopefully encourage you to fall back in love with reading, too. There are so many benefits to it, from emotional regulation to mental clarity, that I believe everyone should experience.
I’ll also be discussing how journaling and reading go hand in hand—because when you pair the two, the self-growth becomes even deeper.
