Clean Girl Routine

Being busy with your daily life activities can make it hard to keep up the smaller tasks in your life. Something as you may think is simple can make a change to your overall way of living. I've always thought a clean house helps create a clear mind. It smells good, looks neat, and your mind is at ease because you've had a long day but you can finally relax. But finding the time can be the issue.

Lots of us clean once a week and depending on the clutter it can be an all day task at hand. Not only do you have to clean all day but you also want to be able to spend your time enjoying the day you have the time off for.

In order to remain consistent and less time consuming, there is a way to create a clean girl routine that you can use for a more thorough and easy going clean for your entire home. Lets dive into a clean girl routine for a clear mind.

Schedule Your Cleaning Days

Come up with a schedule that works with your full days off, from school, work, hobbies, etc. Depending on the free time you have throughout the week, you can schedule a cleaning day for a period of time on that day to do a full cleaning of your home. Seasonal cleanings can also be scheduled every season of the year in order to keep track of what you have for the season.

A few ways to schedule would be:

  • Once a week for 6 hours

  • Seasonal cleanings every three months -January -Winter, April - Spring, July - Summer, October - Fall

  • An hour out of your day for decluttering, cleaning for dinner etc.

This helps with:

  • If you have the full day, pace your clean. If you have had a long week it could feel like you are doing a chore to complete the full cleaning of you home. Schedule a timeframe of when you want to be done. Maybe include breaks so that you are not consistently working. A few ways that help me pull through is listening to a podcast, video voiceover, music, maybe even play a movie I have watched before as background sounds.

  • Take an hour out of your day to clean the dishes, take out the trash, and maybe throw in a load of laundry. This helps so that when the week is over, you wont need to worry about carving out a full day to clean. You can schedule for the morning and still have time to enjoy your day.

  • Stay consistent. If you do take a break make sure to time yourself so you do not lose motivation. Tell yourself “once I am done, I will feel great that I did it”

Start With One Side of Your Home

Starting with one area of your home gives you the opportunity to be productive and cover all of your bases. It can be hard to make sure you have cleaned everything you could if you are running back and forth noticing little things that have missed.

  • Start with the Kitchen

  • Start with Bathroom

  • Start with clearing all trash, then disinfect

  • Keep the momentum going

One of my favorite ways to complete this step is go through my home and throw away all of the items that are trash, put away items in their designated area, organize my closet, kitchen and bathroom. Once I am done, I disinfect everything, sweep, mop, and clean the baseboards.

Organize As You Go

A clean home and everything put together? What a wonderful feeling! Organizing as you go will be good for decluttering in the future. When it comes to seasonal cleanings and getting rid of old clothes, if you organize your home prior it is easier to get rid of things you don’t want anymore and helps with putting things away when you are switching for the season. A few things to think about while organizing:

  • Clothes

  • Shoes

  • Dishes

  • Drawers (link below)

  • Pantry/cabinets

  • Living spaces

I would suggest to do look at your space in new eyes. Think of things for example the seasons or time of the year. What needs to go and what needs to stay. This is something that can happen seasonally and doesn’t necessary need to be done every cleaning because depending on when you schedule your cleans. Normally, you would keep it the same from week to week.

You Did It!

Celebrate your work! Embrace the feeling of completion and the motivation to start the new week or day ahead! Light a candle, Spray with fragrance, shower, and relax….

Any suggestions or ways that have helped you? I’d love to hear!
